58.5% Zero-Click: The rise of AI agents and "App-less" interfaces
tmss Tuesday, December 16, 2025We are witnessing the end of the "Link Economy."
According to the 2024 Zero-Click Search Study, 58.5% of Google searches in the US now end without a single click.
Why? Because browsers and search engines are shifting from "Discovery" (showing you where to go) to "Execution" (doing it for you).
The "App-less" Interface Look at Google’s 'Disco' or generic AI agents. If you open 10 tabs for travel planning, the browser now ingests them and generates a disposable "Trip Planner" interface. The original websites just become invisible backend databases.
The Paradox The better and more logical your content is, the easier it is for AI to summarize it. High quality = Zero clicks.
As a founder or marketer, if you are relying on being a "destination," you are in trouble. We need to shift from selling "information" to selling "inevitability"—something the AI cannot generate.
I wrote a deeper dive on this structural shift and how to survive the "App-less" era. Full analysis here: https://tmssmag.substack.com/p/the-death-of-the-link-the-culprit
